As we celebrate the 79th Independence Day, a motivational and enthusiastic lecture was scheduled at Shifa College of Medicine as part of the longitudinal theme of Pakistan Studies. This session was organized by Dr Umme Kulsoom Khattak, under the lead of Prof Ashraf Hussain. It was conducted on Monday, August 11 2025, in the KUB Module for Year 3 students. The lecture was delivered by our distinguished guest speaker Dr. Farooq Abdullah. He is an accomplished academic researcher with a PhD in Islamic Studies, specializing in the Comparative Study of Religions and an HEC-approved PhD Supervisor since 2022. His contributions in Pakistan Studies, interfaith harmony and international representation have earned him national awards and recognition. Objectives of the session were that the students understand the basis and historical developments through the creation of Pakistan and know about the sacrifices given by millions of Muslims. Dr. Abdullah took pride in sharing the journey through Pakistan’s creation with passion using pictures and videos, restoring the essence of independence. He explained all the details in a very energetic and motivational way and encouraged the youth to be optimistic focusing on the importance of character building to be good Pakistani’s.
